What is JEE Main?
The Joint Entrance Examination – JEE Main (Official Website) is a competitive entrance test, as the name suggests, for engineering students. This computer-based test is conducted to assess the skills of the said students, to apply for different engineering colleges, anywhere in India. In 2020, the National Tested Agency (NTA) held JEE Main in an online platform. The higher you rank, the better college you can take admission in, for your undergraduate courses.
What is the qualifying marks and cut off for JEE Main?
The candidates willing to sit for JEE Main must have passed their XII boards with at least a percentage of 75. This has been the eligibility criteria till now, given by NTA, for admission in NITs or IITs. But due to the pandemic that led to the cancellation of Board Examinations, it was told that candidates would only need to show their passing certificate of 12th board exam. The cut off for JEE Main 2k20 is stated below, accordingly.
- General: 70.2435518
- SC – Scheduled Caste: 50.1760245
- ST – Scheduled Tribe: 39.0696101
- OBC – Other Backward Classes: 72.8887969
- Differently-abled: 0.0618524
Examination fees for JEE Main
The examination also differs from caste, gender, etc. If you are a male student, applying for one paper, coming from General caste, or OBC, then the application fee for you is Rupees 650 /-. If you are a female or a transgender student, applying for one paper, coming from ST or SC, and also in the case of differently-abled students, the examination fee is reduced to half, that is, Rupees 325 /-.
